Power Skating

Here at Xtreme Hockey, we believe that all fascets of skating are very important in the development of a hockey player. The proper way to forward and backward skate are taught here, and for the more advanced skaters, we key on balance drills as well as correcting faults in your stride to make you a faster skater. This is a great program for players of all levels. Below is a description of each level and what goes on in each.

Beginner: This is the introductory level of power skating. The purpose of the beginner level is to teach the basic skills of the game, such as forward skating and balance. Fun games will be played with the children to keep them enthused and interested in the program.

Level 1: This stage is not an extremely large step compared to the beginner program. We focus on mostly the same skills as the beginner group, with small emphasis on new skills such as backward skating and pivoting.

Level 2: This level keys in on perfecting the basic skating skills. Skating techniques are tweaked and critiqued with a fine toothed comb at this stage.

Level 3: This would be the intermediate level of our power skating program. Players are on the cusp of moving to the advanced power skating levels. Players at this stage have strong basic skills, and will be introduced to more advanced skating exercises.

Level 4: At this stage, players will start to focus on fine tuning their advanced skills. Advanced pivoting, "opening up", backward skating, and forward skating are reinforced at this stage.

Level 5: Our best young skaters are in this catagory. All the advanced skating skills are reinforced at this stage.
