James Melindy was born on December 11th, 1993 in St. John’s, NL. Melindy was a member of Xtreme Hockey from Squirt until Bantam, and participated in the Xtreme Hockey “Pro League” in 2012. Melindy also did a power skating program with Xtreme in the summer of 2015 to improve on his conditioning for the upcoming season.

Melindy played his minor hockey with the Goulds, and was a graduate of the St. John’s Fog Devils Midget AAA program. James moved on to play 3 seasons with the Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL), and was drafted in the 3rd round (88th overall) by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Melindy has 49 AHL games under his belt with the Portland Pirates (AHL) and is currently playing in the East Coast Hockey League. While Melindy has yet to crack the “National League”, the uber-talented defenceman is still only 22 years old. Xtreme Hockey hopes that the future is bright for Melindy.
